CSUC organized a float through some principal street of Kumasi as part of activities marking the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of the University College, which theme is: “CSUC at 40 Years and Growing: Renewing Our Identity”.
The procession started from the CSUC campus, went through Santasi and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Roundabouts to Adum and Ahodwo Roundabout, and ended back on CSUC campus.
Clad in CSUC 40th Anniversary T-shirts, the participants comprising staff and students danced to the tune of brass band and contemporary gospel songs amidst shouting and jubilation. CSUC fliers and stickers were distributed to people along the shoulders of the road.
The President of CSUC, Prof. (Mrs.) Frances Owusu-Daaku said the float was aimed at heightening awareness about the successes and achievements of the University College since it was established 40 years ago.
She indicated that as a Christian institution of higher education, CSUC will continue to promote spiritual and moral values. She said the University College was committed to promoting Ghana’s educational development by empowering the youth through effective and sound teaching, research and service.
Activities that had already taken place in the year included an official launch of the celebration on February 19, a 40th anniversary Mission from February 24to March 2, the Senavoes Memorial Lectures on April 3 and 4 and a Stakeholders’ Conference on June 6.
Touching on upcoming programmes for the year long celebrations, Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku mentioned a Community Service Day on November 7, 2014, during which needed items would be donated to the community clinic at Trede, a suburb of Kumasi; as well as CSUC 40th Anniversary Fund-raising and Special Congregation on December 20, 2014.
The President called on alumni and friends; and both local and international partners to join CSUC in this all important celebration of its 40th Anniversary.
