The President of Christian Service University College (CSUC), Professor Samuel Afrane, has cautioned academic institutions to better utilize the high demands of research work undertaken in academic institutions to answer industrial problems rather than stocking them in the academic bank. He pronounced this during a maiden career fair organized by the University College, adding that, tertiary Institutions must embrace entrepreneurship and internship programmes to offer students with industry needs.
According to the President, the Fair was to provide a common platform for building business relationships with employers, academic institutions and students of CSUC for prospective employment opportunities.
The forum brought together eight resource persons from five industries of the banking sectors namely Prudential Bank and Ecobank, Insurance firm Enterprise Life Assurance, health industry namely Living Waters Specialists Hospital, Information Technology industry IPMC and NIIT and media and communication industry Multimedia Group as well as the Safety Insurance Brokers Ltd. The choice of these industries was to enable all students in the various programmes of study to equip themselves with insight from industry.
Speaking on the theme, “Youth and Career development in the Private Sector”, the main speaker for the event, a renowned pastor and a business man, Apostle Nana Adu Darko, General Overseer, Covenant Seekers Worldwide Ministries, delved deeper on the need to be disciplined and focused in all fields of life. He indicated that, those were the means to secure job opportunities and to grow one’s dream business.
In an earlier statement, Professor Afrane, said the purpose of the gathering was to bring all stakeholders on a common platform to develop lasting contacts, cooperation and collaborations for job opportunities for students.
The session ended with question time where most students had the opportunity to ask several questions for further clarifications on the various services displayed. The students were also privileged to inquire more about requirements for job placement in these organizations and had positive feedback to their questions.
