CSUC Appoints New Vice President, Acting Registrar

Christian Service University College, (CSUC), Kumasi, on July 15, 2020, announced the appointments of a new Vice President
in the Person of Dr Stephen Banahene and an Acting Registrar, Mrs Sophia Awortwi respectively. The appointments were made
known to staff during a farewell ceremony held to honour three gallant employees of the University College.

According to the President of the University College, Prof. Sam Afrane, the Governing Council through its prerogative appointed
the two personalities to occupy the high executive offices after series of interviews and befitting background checks on their
Christian and Academic qualities. He noted that the two are already employees of CSUC  and are playing meaningful roles in
separate capacities, adding that, ‘they are our own, with proven abilities, and we are confident to entrust these high offices into
their care. We believe they can further grow the institution.’

As part of a letter from the Governing Council, and read by the President, their appointments take effect from August 1, 2020.

Prior to his appointment, Dr Banahene was the Dean of Business School cum Acting Dean, School of Research and Graduate
Studies. He holds a PhD in Service Marketing (Business Management) from Universidad Empresarial De Costa Rica, Costa
Rica, with expertise in Service Quality, Brand Management, and Competitive Strategies for Private Universities as well as
Small and Medium Scale Enterprises including Consultancy Works in Marketing.

staff16Dr Banahene is the longest serving staff of the CSUC Business School and has held several
positions with consecutive leadership record as Head of the Department of Management &
General Studies. He has also served on a number of committees and boards including the
Academic Board, and has been an active member of the Management Board which
accumulate to a total of 13 years of service to the University College since 2007. Dr
Banahene comes with a wealth of experience to take over from Dr Peter White, his
immediate past predecessor.

 

1595248695697_img-20190726-wa0000 Similarly, Mrs. Sophia Awortwi has served the University College as the University College
Counsellor for 3 years and is an active member of the CSUC Governing Council. She is a
Biological Scientist, seasoned educationist and a counsellor with over 34 years of experience.
She has over the years worked with Ghana Education Service where she rose to become the
National Director of Science Education in Ghana and was ultimately awarded with one of
Ghana’s most prestigious awards – ‘The Order of the Volta.’
The new Acting Registrar is deemed poised for the executive administrative position as
proven in her past records and attitude towards executing the University’s assignments.
