Christian Service University College (CSUC) has organized a ‘maiden Library open day’ of its Chapman Library. The outdoor ceremony was used to sell some discarded books from the Library at affordable prices to all patrons. According to the Librarian, Mr. Emmanuel O. Laryea, the event begins an ‘annual open day celebration’ to draw patrons closer to the library to showcase and create awareness on its products and services.

He emphasized on the cutting-edge role that the modern library plays in providing learning/research aids to students and faculty and held that, the ceremony was to serve as a milestone in contributing to the quality information delivery of the Chapman Library.
In a keynote address on behalf of the President of the University College, Mrs. Ama K. Kwaa, the Registrar, reiterated the need for such ‘participatory events’ where the users of the library get to interact with the library administrators on a level that will encourage more patronage.
She also hinted on the significance of libraries to academic institutions and the need for faculty and students alike to see the facility as one stop shop for quality research.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Kwaa and the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, Dr. Kofi Agyenim Boateng donated towards the purchase of a scanner worth GH¢1,500.
In addition, the Assemblyman for the Odeneho Kwadaso Area, Nana Prempeh pledged his support for the acquisition of a printer to the Chapman library in an effort to help overcome some of the current challenges facing institutional libraries in the Country.

Chapman Library was named after the late Mr. William Henry Chapman, the first Principal of Christian Service College, now Christian Service University College established in 1974. Six months before the admission of students in October, 1974, the World Evangelization for Christ, (WEC) Mission donated some books to the college which served as the nucleus of the library.
The library aims at becoming a centre of excellence in research, teaching and learning.
