CSU Appeals for Support to Enhance Library Services

As part of the Maiden Library Month Celebration at Christian Service University (CSU), the institution’s leadership has appealed strongly to individuals, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to support the enhancement of the Chapman Library, especially now that the university has attained its Chartered status.

The Pro Vice Chancellor of CSU, Dr. Stephen Banahene, highlighted the need for continuous improvements in library facilities to meet the growing academic demands of students and faculty. “The Chapman Library is the hub of our academic resources, and we aspire to make materials available physically and virtually,” he stated.

Dr. Banahene acknowledged the challenges in upgrading library resources, emphasizing the need for a more conducive learning environment. “We want to be available to our students both online and in-house, and we hope to partner with relevant institutions and individuals to make our library one of the best in Ghana,” he added.

Miss Vivian Amponsah, the University Librarian reiterated the significance of institutionalizing Library Month as an annual tradition to reinforce the university’s commitment to academic excellence, research, and knowledge-sharing. She urged the public to help improve library infrastructure, including upgrading lighting systems, creating a state-of-the-art discussion arena, and establishing a dedicated research commons.

“We want our users to know that the library is not just a physical facility. It is also virtual and accessible anywhere,” Ms. Amponsah noted. She explained that the celebration aimed to change perceptions about library use, ensuring that students and faculty recognize the convenience of modern library services.

Call for Support to Enhance Library Modernization

Ms. Amponsah called on well-meaning individuals and organizations to support the library’s modernization efforts. “Our goal is to provide an enhanced academic experience. With your support, we can transform our library into a cutting-edge learning center that benefits not only our students but also the wider community and nation,” she emphasized.

The appeal comes as CSU, now a Chartered institution, strives to position its library as a dynamic force in academia, bridging the gap between traditional and digital learning for a holistic educational experience.
