CSU Marks 49th Matriculation Ceremony Under New Chartered Status

Christian Service University held its 49th Matriculation Ceremony for the January batch, 2024/2025 academic year on March 1, 2025. This event marked a significant milestone as the second formal matriculation since the Institution attained its new chartered status. The University officially welcomed 665 new students, integrating them as Junior Members of the CSU community. A total of approximately 1,300 students were admitted across both the September and January intake streams. Of this number, 70% are female, 65% are enrolled in Nursing and Midwifery programmes, 84% are undergraduates, and 16% for postgraduates.

“This year’s enrolment is the highest in the last five years, reflecting CSU’s growing academic stature,” stated Prof. Afrane, CSU Vice Chancellor.

In his address to the freshmen, Prof. Afrane, expressed gratitude for the record enrolment. He encouraged students to fully utilize the University’s resources, particularly the library, urging them to consider it their “second home.” He stressed the importance of staying focused on their academic and personal goals amid the challenges associated with university life. He also highlighted the University’s unique Christian education and the nurturing environment it provides for the student’s development.

Prof. Afrane reminded the matriculants of the importance of integrity and hard work, as embodied in CSU’s motto, “Excellence with Integrity.” He also urged students to embrace moral values, respect authority, and avoid vices such as examination malpractice, poor associations, and addiction to betting. He emphasized the University’s strong stance against such behaviours, encouraging students to take advantage of the ‘CSU Mentorship Programme’ for self-discovery and academic growth.

Special Recognition

The ceremony also acknowledged the first cohort of students, enrolled in CSU’s Diploma Programme. Additionally, it celebrated the Nursing and Midwifery students for their substantial intake over the past three academic years.

In closing, Prof. Afrane reminded the students, “You have the freedom and the right to do what is right and not what is wrong,” as they embark on their academic journey.
