The Governing Council of Christian Service University College (CSUC), Kumasi, has appointed Mr. Emmanuel Kweku Bedai as the new Registrar of the University College, effective June, 2016.
He takes over from Mrs. Cecilia Boakye Botwe who held the position in an acting capacity. The Registrar will be responsible to the President for the day-to-day administration of the University College.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Bedai was the Registrar at the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa.
Mr. Bedai has served as the Chairman of the Committee of Registrars and Finance Officers of the Public Universities in Ghana. He also held various positions at KNUST School of Mines as Assistant Registrar, Principal Administrative Assistant and Senior Administrative Assistant – the same institution where he had his national service.
At the University of Mines and Technology, he served as the Secretary to the University Council and other committees of the Council including: Standing and Finance Committee, Development Committee, Welfare Services Board, Council/Academic Board Committee on Honorary Degrees, and University Appointments and Promotions Committee (Senior Members).
He was also the Secretary to the Academic Board, Executive Committee, Scholarships Committee and Research and Conferences Committee. Other duties performed at the same University included Coordinator for Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund (TALIF).
Mr. Bedai has attended several training programmes in higher education at various universities including the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, Universities and institutions of higher learning in Paris, France, the University of Leicester, UK and several other UK universities.
He is a Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Management, and holds a Master of Development Management degree from the University of Ghana, Legon. He has: Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration, Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and Postgraduate Certificate in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Geography and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, and he is a product of the Tarkwa Secondary School.
Mr. Bedai is a Methodist, and a Member of the Conference of the Methodist Church Ghana. He is also a Member of the Synod of The Tarkwa Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, and an accredited Lay Preacher of the Methodist Church Ghana.
In a statement, Mr. Bedai pledged to bring his rich experiences and knowledge to bear on advancing the vision and mission of the CSUC. He called for the support of the entire University College Community to work with him and the Management to build the University College to become a rare Centre of Excellence for the training of world class professionals for Ghana and Africa.
