A three-member team led by the CSUC president, Prof. Sam Afrane, has participated in the 8th conference organised by the International Association for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education in Cheonan City, South Korea.
The theme of the Conference was “Strengthening Christian Higher Education in an era of global transformation. ”
The Conference, which was attended by over a hundred participants from 33 countries, aimed at discussing how to nurture the integration of Christian faith and values into university education. It focused on curriculum development, administration, research and leadership.
According to the CSUC president Prof. Sam Afrane, who presented a paper on ‘maintaining Christian values in Christian universities in Ghana; challenges and the way forward, the emphasis of the conference was on how to safeguard Christian education and infuse them into high level research and publications.
“The enthusiasm of participants on retaining Christian values in education was heartwarming and contagious”, added Prof Afrane.
“The host institution, Baekseok University was remarkable. With a student population of over 12,000 and a team of 18 Chaplains lead by a Dean of Chaplains, the University had asserted itself as a mission university committed to reaching out to and meeting the needs of its communities, ” the CSUC president revealed.
The then Acting Registrar of CSUC, Mrs. Cecilia Boakye Botwe, a member of the delegation, who also presented a paper, said the CSUC developed academic partnerships with some of the universities.
Mrs. Christine Adjei Glover, a lecturer from the CSUC Department of Theology, who also presented a paper, completed the team that accompanied the President.
The conference took off from 31st May to 3rd June, 2016.
