CSUC held its 38th Matriculation Ceremony on November 9, 2013 to officially induct newly-admitted students of the 2013/2014 academic year into the University College.
Out of 771 students who were offered admissions, 518 students enrolled to pursue various degree programmes including Theology, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Logistics and Corporate Strategies, and Management and General Studies. Others were Computer Science, Communication Studies, Nursing and Community Development. The ceremony was held on the theme, “CSUC @ 40 and Growing: Renewing our Identity”.
During the ceremony, Prof. (Mrs.) Frances Owusu-Daaku, President of CSUC said the University College was offering another opportunity for candidates who missed the August 2013 admission period. She therefore announced that CSUC had opened admissions into its January 2014 regular intake for level 100 applicants, and weekend school designed for busy working professionals.
Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku stated that as a Christian institution, CSUC was committed to promoting the spiritual growth of the students, but advised parents and guardians not to abandon their wards, but complement CSUC in its efforts.
“You have enrolled them (children and wards) in a Christian institution. We will point them to all that is Christian, but remember that there are other voices competing for their attention, so please, continue to engage them as growing adults and/or children as the case may be and let us work together to enable them be the best that God wants them to be till they leave CSUC,” the President stressed.
To the newly-admitted students, Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku advised them to ‘Stay Forever Young’ quoting from Pearl S. Buck (deceased American writer, Nobel Prize-winning author and novelist) that “the young do not know enough to be prudent, and therefore they attempt the impossible – and achieve it, generation after generation”. To this end, the President asked the students to remain resolute towards achieving success in their academic work and spiritual life.
The Dean of Students of CSUC, Mr. Asuamah Adade-Yeboah admonished the students to be disciplined, and asked them to adhere to the rules and regulations of the University College.
Mr. Adade-Yeboah also urged the students to manage their time well, and reiterated that CSUC would not only train them for academic excellence, but also promote their spiritual growth and moral uprightness.
