CSUC has held a send-off ceremony for its outgoing President, Prof. (Mrs.) Frances Owusu-Daaku. She held office for two years from 2013 to 2015.
The colourful ceremony attracted members of CSUC Board of Trustees, Council, staff members and executives of the Students’ Representative Council.
In his welcome remarks, Rt. Rev. Prof. Osei Safo-Kantanka, Chairman of CSUC Council commended Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku for her immense contributions towards the development of CSUC.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Safo-Kantanka who is also the Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese, Methodist Church Ghana asked the outgoing president not to cut ties with the University College, but continue to support the institution.
Farewell speeches delivered showered praises on the outgoing president for her immeasurable contributions, quality leadership and management skills.
Mrs. Joyce Stuber gave a farewell speech on behalf of Members of CSUC Board of Trustees. She congratulated Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku for successfully ending her tenure as president, and thanked her for the good mark she had left at CSUC.
Dr. Lawyer K. E. K. Aboah who spoke on behalf of CSUC Council Members described the outgoing president as honourable, affable and approachable. He told Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku that her contributions to CSUC would never be erased in the history of the University College.
Dr. Kwabena Nsiah, Dean of Graduate Studies who delivered a speech on behalf of the Deans and Heads of Faculties praised Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku for taking CSUC to a higher level during her tenure. He also lauded the outgoing president for her strong commitment to the “Lordship of Jesus Christ,” which remains central to CSUC core values.
Speaking on behalf of all staff members of CSUC, Mr. Stephen Oti-Appiah re-echoed the outgoing president’s friendliness and openness. He described her as a consensus-building president, who opened her doors for all staff.
A citation presented by CSUC also acknowledged Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku invaluable service to the University College. “Your dedication and service to the University College had been tremendous as you gave your all within the past two years, with the view to making the University College a full-fledged one. By God’s grace, through your efforts, we can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
“You were instrumental in establishing the required number of faculties (including the Faculties of Humanities and Health & Applied Sciences) and promoting quality teaching and learning environment. Your devotion to sound Christian principles and the CSUC core values was evident in all your actions and all endeavours, especially your speeches”, the citation quoted in part.
In brief remarks, Prof. (Mrs.) Owusu-Daaku expressed her profound gratitude to Members of the Board of Trustees, Council and all staff members of CSUC for their unflinching support during her term of office. The outgoing president also pledged her continuous support to the University College.
