Prof. Samuel Kofi Afrane, president of the Christian Service University College (CSUC) has prescribed a fully functional educational programme that is lubricated by entrepreneurial training as a solution to graduate unemployment. Prof. Afrane outlined this roadmap during the 40th Matriculation Ceremony of the CSUC.
Speaking under the theme, “the opportunities and challenges of university education in the 21st century – implications for first year students,” the President disclosed that the CSUC plans to introduce entrepreneurial programmes aimed at tapping and developing the leadership potential of students.
According to Prof. Afrane, this would facilitate CSUC graduates’ drive and confidence to start their own businesses on completing their degree programmes. Students would then be able to lead fruitful and godly lives after graduation and impact their communities.
Prof. Samuel Nii Odai, Pro-Vice Chancellor for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and guest speaker for the occasion, added that education that aims at enabling students solve problems of society is what can move the nation forward.
The CSUC president also announced that the University College would soon launch new programmes in Teacher Education, Corporate Planning, a Master of Science degree in Finance and Accounting as well as Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
Mrs. Bernice Gyaabin, Chief Executive Officer of Network Programming Solutions at Abrepo Junction and a parent of one of the matriculants, said what motivated her to educate her ward at CSUC is the level of discipline and training that is given to students of the University College.
Mr. Eric Kwabena Berkye, a level 100 computer science matriculant and Systems Administrator of Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank also added that he chose to enrol at CSUC in order to obtain relevant knowledge in computer networking and progress in his profession.
