The Students Representation Council of Christian Service University College in collaboration with the TIKVAH AFRICA has organized the 6th edition of the Achievers Summit under the theme: “Equipping Graduates with entrepreneurial and leadership skills for national development”. The event was graced by two alumni guest speakers, Rev. Bonaventure Eshun, President of TIKVAH Africa and Rev. James Najimba, Lead Sales Executive, Ernest Chemist. The other speakers were the Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah, Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency and Deputy Minister Designate for Trade and Industry, Hon. Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina and Mr. Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh, Chairman, National Media Commission. The participants were given lectures in topics such as medical entrepreneurship, how to start a business without start-up capital, developing positive attitude towards entrepreneurship, leveraging opportunities as a student entrepreneur, among several others.
In his opening remarks, the president of the CSUC-SRC, Hon. Emmanuel Yao Amegavi Sosu, stated the purpose of the summit and explained that unemployment remains a challenge to the teeming youth in Ghana despite all attempts by succeeding governments to address the problem. He said that the achievers’ summit provides a unique platform for students to engage with intellectuals from academia and industry to develop an entrepreneurial mindset to transform their economic circumstances. He however expressed optimism that the summit will afford the students the opportunity to listen, learn and engage with the experts on the theme.
The President of the CSUC, Prof. Sam Afrane in his address defused the popular misconception among Ghanaians that universities have failed to address the problem of unemployment. He situated the mandate of universities in the context of unemployment and espoused that inasmuch as universities have a role to play in addressing unemployment, their mandate is to primarily equip students with basic knowledge and skills that will enable them to function well in life.
He further argued that universities must focus on equipping students with analytical and critical thinking skills, problem solving techniques, life planning, social engineering, networking leadership and entrepreneurship. He revealed that his administration has rolled out a comprehensive entrepreneurship programme to equip CSUC graduates with the requisite skills to become successful 21st century entrepreneurs and urged the students to take advantage of this initiative.
Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah revealed that even though he is a Member of Parliament, he owns and cultivate several acres of land as a farmer and that earns him a fortune and urged the participants to emulate his example.
He was of the opinion that no government can employ all graduates considering the size of the economy, slow pace of economic development and lack of urgency on the part of politicians to address the unemployment problem facing the country.
Hon. Lawyer Xavier Sosu on his part expressed pessimism about the nature and structure of our governance system which does not engender youth development. He posited that the development trajectory of Ghana which focuses mainly on winning elections and entrenching political power without deliberate effort to develop the human resource capacity of the youth is worrying and require urgent attention from all stakeholders. He therefore charged the participants to take the bull by the horn to transform their situation by embracing entrepreneurship to secure the future of Ghana
.Mr. Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh, Chairman of the National Media Commission and Faculty member of the University College shared his perspective on the role of ethics in the professional employment environment and reminisced the advice he received from his parents in his youthful days and urged the participants to live lives of integrity, honesty, humility, truthfulness and trustworthiness. 
He used biblical and professional examples to expound on the importance of these virtues and ended his presentation with Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 which focuses on the fear of God as the success factor in all human endeavours.
The programme was well attended by the public, students, Management, faculty, and the media.
