CSUC has honoured three of its gallant staff upon their retirement and peaceful exit from the University College in a mini-farewell ceremony
held at the university’s auditorium on July 15, 2020. The three, which included the immediate past Vice President, Rev. Dr. Peter White,
Director of Quality Assurance Unit, Prof. Stephen Emmanuel Owusu and a Principal Library Assistant, Mr. Stephen Oti Appiah were
described in separate citations as ‘assets whose service and dedication to CSUC, would be forever missed.’
The three were offered citations each including an undisclosed package as token of appreciation from management.
The University Chaplain, Rev. Anthony Boateng Agyenim who read the citations on their behalf, was ably supported
by the President, Prof. Sam. Afrane and the General Administrator cum Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Cecilia
Boakye Botwe.
In his citation, Dr. Peter White was described as ‘a young spirited-person
of excellence who has passion for integrity’. He was uniquely acknowledged
for serving the University College dutifully for 6 years before his honourable
resignation. He joined the University College as a lecturer and climbed the
ladder to his latter portfolio as Vice President in 2018. He also served on
various executive capacities including the Head of Theology Department,
Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences and Acting
Chaplain during the period.
Prof. S.E Owusu, on his part, served the University College for 8 years as
the Director of the Quality Assurance Unit and was recently appointed as
the Acting Dean of the School of Research and Graduate Studies. He was
described as, ‘a man who obeys simple rules’. This has been a particular
feature which staff could associate him with, as well as being an exemplary
leader and an epitome of diligence. He is an Associate Professor of Housing
with expertise in teaching, administration and leadership positions. He also
served on various boards and committees including the Academic Board,
the Library and Management Boards.
The third to be honoured was Mr. Stephen Oti Appiah, popularly known
by the entire University community as ‘a friend and father to all’. He was
a cornerstone to CSUC, one of the longest serving employees, with 36
years of selfless service. He was noted for his dedication and passion to
work, which is worthy of emulation. He served in various capacities
including the registry, farm-works, transport unit and the library
which became his substantive office before his retirement.
The three were grateful for the honour bestowed on them by management and staff of CSUC,
and were elated to receive such commendations in appreciation for their service. Prof. S.E
Owusu finally assured that he has not left CSUC completely, but forever remains to assist in
every capacity while Dr. Peter White advised staff to work with the right intentions.
