Meet Josephine Kyei Baffour: A Passionate Accounting Educator

“I am driven to transform accounting fear into confidence and mastery for students.”

Josephine Kyei Baffour is a passionate educator and accounting professional dedicated to making accounting accessible and engaging for learners. With a deep commitment to teaching and research, she strives to eliminate the fear of accounting and inspire students to excel in the field. In August 2024, she joined the School of Business at the Christian Service University (CSU), where she teaches and models emerging Accounting Professionals.

She holds a Master of Philosophy in Accounting from the University of Ghana (2023) and a Bachelor of Education in Accounting from the University of Cape Coast (2019). She also earned a Diploma in Basic Education (Science and Mathematics) from OLA College of Education (2011). She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), and a student at the Chartered Institute of Taxation Ghana (CITG).

With over 13 years of teaching experience with the Ghana Education Service, Josephine has taught Financial Accounting and Cost Accounting. She has also lectured in Management and Financial Accounting at the University of Education, College of Distance Learning and E-Learning. She continues to teach Financial Reporting at the University of Cape Coast, Institute of Education on a part-time basis.

Her research interests include Sustainability Accounting, teaching experience, Financial Management, and Taxation, with notable contributions to corporate water accounting practices and the impact of teacher experience on student performance.

Beyond academia, Josephine is dedicated to community service. She actively engages in breast cancer awareness and financial investment advocacy through “My Future Self,” an advocacy group focused on savings, opportunities, and investment. A devoted Methodist, Lay Preacher, and former Youth President, she balances her professional and personal commitments with a passion for reading and lifelong learning.

At CSU, Josephine’s mission is to simplify accounting, ignite a passion for mathematics and financial literacy, and advance research that supports Ghana’s economic growth. Her unwavering dedication to education and mentorship makes her an inspiring figure in the academic and financial sectors.
