“Government must have a critical look at the role and challenges of private tertiary institutions in Ghana in order to develop appropriate policy framework and financial support mechanisms that will ensure their sustainability in contributing to manpower development of the Country.”
The President of Christian Service University College, Prof. Sam Afrane made the statement above during the University College’s 43rd Matriculation Ceremony to officially admit 350 new students including 15 who were admitted for its distance learning center in Sunyani.
In his Address, the matriculants were advised to devote themselves to hard work, discipline and good time management in order to excel in their academic pursuits. “The choices you make in your relationship with God and people are critical,” he added.
Meanwhile, he admonished students on improper dressing and the national canker of lateness to work and other important functions, and challenged them to use their training from the Christ centred Academic Institution to curtail negative tendencies.
New Academic Programmes on offer
The President announced the mounting of four new programmes: BEd. Early Childhood Education, BEd. Basic Education, BSc. Midwifery, and Master of Science in Corporate Planning.
He highlighted the MSc. Corporate Planning as the first to be introduced in the whole of West Africa and the 2nd flagship programme of the Christian Service University College after the introduction of the MSc Monitoring and Evaluation in 2016.
He also touched on the University College’s relentless quest for a Presidential Charter for the institution to become a fully-fledged University.
Update on CSUC E-learning platform
The President emphasized that the e-learning platform continues to offer an ideal and convenient advantage to workers who have to combine work and school to study wherever they may find themselves, and thus, limit the number of visits to study on campus.
Each student was given a Bible‘ as a ‘gift of life’ and a guide for their character formation throughout their stay on Campus.
The ceremony was well attended by officials of the University College including the President, Vice President, Heads and Deans of Faculties, as well as some guardians who witnessed proceedings.
