Lawyer Seth A. Osafo is a Professional Lawyer with tremendous international experience. He attained his LLB, Hons from the University of Ghana School of Law, Legon, 1967 to 1970; Bar Certificate from the Ghana Law School, Accra, 1970 to 1972; LLM, International and Comparative Law from the Temple University School of Law, Philadelphia, USA, 1978 to 1980; and Senior Management Training Programme from the University of Manchester, UK, in 1989. Lawyer Osafo was admitted into the Ghana Bar as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana in October 1972.
He was a Legal Consultant to the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana for the organisation of the Accra Climate Change Summit from August 10-15, 2008; Legal Consultant and Resource Person to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa for the AMCEN Special Session in Algiers from November 2008 to February 2009; Legal Consultant to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change from November 2008 to March 2009; UNEP Consultant and Resource Person at Preparatory Session for Asian Negotiators to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Colombia, Sri Lanka in May 2009; Consultant/Moderator, UNTAR e-learning course on International Environmental Law, November to May 2011; Consultant/Trainer, UNTAR/GTZ National Capacity Development Course on International Development Law, Bangkok, Thailand, October 13-16, 2010; and Resource Person at Climate Change Diplomacy Training Workshop organized by UNTAR for the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, South Africa, Pretoria, February 28 to March 4, 2011. Since 2009 until now, he is the Consultant of AMCEN and the African Development Bank providing legal advice to African Negotiators at the Negotiations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Lawyer Osafo was the Legal Advisor of the United Nations Office of the Special Envoy for Kosovo Vienna, Australia, from May 2006 to March 2008; and a Secretary/Senior Legal Advisor to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change Secretariat, from June 1993 to December 2002 and January 2005 to April 2006. He was again the Deputy Legal Advisor of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) from January 2003 to December 2004; Chief, National Legislation and Institutions of the United Nations Environment Programme, Nairobi, Kenya, from April 1990 to June 1993; Solicitor Secretary for the Environmental Protection Council, Accra, Ghana, from April 1981 to March 1990; and Assistant Editor for Council for Law Reporting, Accra Ghana, from October 1972 to March 1981. He has published and co-authored four books.
