Miss Asakia Hanaan Hawawu, a level 100, Communication student has beaten nine competitors
to win the 2021 Face of CSUC Pageantry as part of activities that marked the SRC Week
celebrations. She took home a cash prize of 1,500 cedis, a 36 inch digital television, appreciable
packs of voltic mineral water, assorted cooking ingredients and the crown. She also gets
recognition for her exceptional presentation for the ‘Most Popular’ category.

It would be recalled that before starting her university education, Miss Asakia also emerged
winner of the maiden Senior High School debate competition organized by Multi-media LUVFM
in 2018, and received full scholarship from CSUC, where she enrolled successfully in 2020 in
recognition for her distinguished performance.

For winning the pageantry Asakia has chosen a project to embark on awareness creation and
education on the ‘Control and Prevention of Mortality from Malaria’. Accordingly, she intends
to initiate partnership with various health institutions and NGOs for funding to support the one-
year year campaign.

_MG_2368Asakia plans to undertake the campaign through community engagements, school seminars,
women conferences, church gatherings and other public forums. To emphasise her passion for
the chosen project, she indicated the intention to venture into similar health advocacy projects in
future.

Narrating her experience, Asakia admitted: “the competition was very challenging because all
the contestants were strong contenders; besides, the pageantry was a different platform that
presented different talents aside debating but I needed to harness my best skills.”

The contest also had Augustina Assah and Josephine Efiaaa win Ist and 2nd runners up
respectively, taking home cash prizes of 1,000 cedis each with cooking burner and microwave
oven, while they were credited with the ‘Most Eloquent’ and ‘Miss International’ recognitions.
